Sam Ratulangi Airport Will Serve Flight Routes of Manado-Kuala Lumpur, Manado-Philippines, and Manado-Taiwan

In 2013, the Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, North Sulawesi, will soon serve three routes out of the country, namely Manado-Kuala Lumpur, Manado-Philippines, and Manado-Taiwan. Regarding preparation services three international routes, the Sam Ratulangi Airport's otority, Manado, is currently negotiating with a number of airlines.

Governor of North Sulawesi, Sinyo H Sarundajang, said that there are plans to open three direct flights from Manado to foreign countries in 2013. "There are three flights that will be opened this year, the Kuala Lumpur-Manado, Manado-Philippines and Manado-Taiwan," said Governor Sarundajang, on the sidelines of the National Press Day in Grand Kawanua International City (GKIC), Manado, Saturday, February 9, 2013.

He said the plan to open a direct flight route from Manado to other countries is still in the stage of negotiations with a number of airlines. "We look forward to an agreement with the airlines, so that a direct flight from Manado to the overseas can be realized," said Sarundajang.

With the opening of the flight path out of the country it would further strengthen the ideals of North Sulawesi to be a gateway of Indonesia in the Asia Pacific region.

North Sulawesi's economy growing characterized by economic growth that the region has always been above the national economic growth, is one indicator that flight services should be improved. "We hope there are more flights to and from abroad. Addition to encouraging the growth of the tourism sector, will also impact on improving the region's economy," said Sarundajang.

Currently Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, serving only one international routes that the Manado-Singapore routes served by the Silk Air airline.
