Length of runway at Blimbingsari Airport increased to 1,800 Meters

Indonesia Aviation. The length of the runway at the Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi, East Java, has added 400 yards so that now the whole length of its runway to 1,800 meters. Work to extend the runway at the Blimbingsari Airport have been completed and are awaiting approval process of operational certification for the airport with a 1,800 meter runway.

Blimbingsari Airport located in Banyuwangi, East Java, has added more long runway. Previously, the runway at the Blimbingsari Airport only 1,400 meters in length. Having added 400 yards, now the total length of the runway to 1,800 meters. "The work of increasing the length runway has been completed. Now is waiting for the approval of operations certificate for airport with runway length of 1,800 meters," said Regent of Banyuwangi, Abdullah Azwar Anas, Monday, February 25, 2013.

The addition of a long runway to pursue targets Blimbingsari Airport become alternative airports after Juanda Airport. After the runway plus the length, area take off and landing aircraft getting longer and safer.

Currently Blimbingsari Airport used by Wings Air and Merpati Nusantara Airlines. However, the current aircraft owned Merpati Nusantara Airlines was still in maintenance.

Wings Air serves flights every day on the route Blimbingsari-Juanda. Wings Air using ATR aircraft with capacity of 70 passengers.
