Rejuvenation of the fleet was prepared by Citilink to target to be the best airline in Indonesia in 2017. Low-cost airline, Citilink Indonesia, plans to stop operating Boeing 737 aircraft which they have been doing. Furthermore, the airline will use the new aircraft from Airbus 320s and TurboPropt. Replacement is to provide comfort to the passengers and the operational efficiency of the company. CEO of PT Citilink Indonesia, Arif Wibowo, said that until the year 2017, Citilink strive to be the best airline in Indonesia. The replacement aircraft is also part of the business strategy Quantum program of Garuda Indonesia which has been the parent Citilink Indonesia. "In the strategies Quantum policy, one of which is to replace the aircraft to be more competitive," he said.

At the beginning of the year 2012 ago, Citilink Indonesia only has 8 aircraft, and by the end of 2012 to 21 aircraft. Until 2016, Top 3 targets will be set using the newer aircraft. Citilink will bring 70 Airbus A320s and 50 TurboPropt are known aircraft to have operational cost efficiency with a maximum passenger capacity. As a subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, which was created for the Low Cost Carrier (LCC), a strategy it has been done. Although flying with a low cost, but that does not mean Citilink provides low quality services to passengers. "That is, we did think about efficiency, but not to reduce safety and passenger comfort," Arif said.

Economical flight strategy is applied Citilink Indonesia, such as by working on short-haul routes, which routes the maximum travel time just over three hours. Domestic flight routes still serve as the main priority, although now there are 16 regional routes to neighboring countries. Citilink Indonesia also equip 70 local route that includes Sumatra, such as Batam, Medan, Lampung, Palembang, and will be linked to several cities in Java, such as Surabaya, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo and Jakarta. Java will be the central station that connects western eastern Indonesia, such as Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. "We will make the station Balikpapan middle east that serve as a liaison with the east end of Maluku and Papua," said Arif.

The growth of the middle class that is high enough to be its own potential for LCC airlines. In the second year after the Spin Off of Garuda Indonesia, Citilink will target passenger numbers as 7.8 million people. This figure is considered unrealistic, because the potential is quite high and see the achievement in 2012, Citilink has carried 3.2 million passengers.

After opening flights from Balikpapan to Yogyakarta, Citilink Indonesia will add routes from Yogyakarta. Several plans have been prepared, such as opening a route Yogyakarta-Jakarta, Yogyakarta-Surabaya, Yogyakarta-Bali, or Yogyakarta-Lombok. Despite knowing the limitations of Time in Slot Adisutjipto airport, but Citilink Indonesia is optimistic that the plan will be implemented. "If plan to operate flights until 24.00 hours already realized, this would be good news for all airlines, including Citilink Indonesia," said Arif.
